Middleton woman remanded back into custody
Fraud, break and enter among charges for Melanson
A 28-year-old Middleton woman was remanded back into custody after a June 25 court appearance in Annapolis Royal
Sherry Melanson is charged with fraud, unlawfully in a dwelling house, break and enter into a residence, and breaching conditions of her probation order. Annapolis RCMP are still investigating Melanson and more charges are possible.
The fraud charge was filed after a woman claiming to be acting for the Arthritis Society Joints in Motion campaign canvassed the Clementsport area, fleecing numerous residents.
Police contacted the Arthritis Society last week and were told that Melanson was not a volunteer with their group and that in fact the society had nobody canvassing in that area.
The society said their volunteers only conduct their campaigns during the month of September and that each volunteer carries the necessary credentials.
Melanson will remain in custory until her next court date July 14.
