Flare-up forces return to scene of midweek fire

Wolfville firefighters returned to the scene of a house fire on the Greenfield Road in Forest Hill Wednesday, Jan. 7 to deal with a flare-up.

Wolfville Fire Chief Tim MacLeod said his department returned at 9:41 p.m. to the two-storey home that was gutted by the blaze earlier in the day to deal with a flare-up. MacLeod said Friday afternoon, Jan. 9 that the cause of the fire remains under investigation by his department and the Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office, but it’s not believed to be suspicious in nature.

No one was home at the time of the blaze and there were no injuries. The house was insured. The Greenwich, Port Williams, Hantsport, New Minas, Canning, Windsor and Kentville departments responded in mutual aid to the call.

Elsewhere, Wolfville responded to a building alarm sounding on Wickwire Avenue Monday, Jan. 5 at 8:34 a.m.

Wolfville firefighters responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 1 in Avonport Monday, Jan. 5 at 8:48 a.m. There were no injuries. MacLeod said firefighters cleaned up a fluid spill and assisted the RCMP with traffic control.

Wolfville responded to a carbon monoxide (CO) detector sounding in Wolfville at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5.

Kentville firefighters responded to what Chief Shawn Ripley described as a possible smell of electrical burning on Prospect Street Monday morning, Jan. 5.

New Minas firefighters responded to a three-vehicle collision on Commercial Street Sunday, Jan. 4. Chief James Redmond said there were no serious injuries.

Canning firefighters responded to a call for medical assistance on Blomidon Crescent in Blomidon early Tuesday morning, Jan. 6.
