Spring events during the library’s 50th anniversary year were enjoyed by all ages. In April, local author Mel Malton spent the morning of the 22nd at Evangeline Middle School.

She read to the grade sixes from her soon to be published book The Pioneer Poltergeist, the second in a young adult mystery series. Afterwards, students interested in the writing process joined her for a writing workshop.

This free presentation was enjoyed by the students of PWES in the afternoon and in the evening by local parents and children. Many thanks to Port Williams resident and Mermaid Theatre’s Artistic Director Jim Morrow for helping to make this possible.

The library participated in the Village-Wide Yard Sale during Port Williams Days by setting up tables and selling used books in front of the library.

On June 26, during the village’s annual meeting, Board of Trustees chair Elinor Miller unveiled an updated aerial photo of the village in honour of Al Ford, former treasurer of the Association. This photo will hang in the library alongside two photos from earlier decades.
