The Events column is for non-profit listings of events in Digby County. Items may run twice for free before the event’s date. March 23 - Easter services in Hillsburgh United Church, Bear River, at 9:30 a.m., and 11 a.m. in Grace United Church, Digby.

March 26 - Senior’s breakfast in the Community room, Superstore, from 9- 11 a.m.. Topic is identity theft with Const. Darrell McNeil. For information, call seniors’ safety coordinator Dawn Thomas at 245-2579.

March 27 - District 8 Fire Commission annual meeting of ratepayers of Smith’s Cove Fire District at 7 p.m. in Community Centre.

March 29 - ‘Spring Into Life’ anniversary celebration at Lifeplex Wellness Centre, Cornwallis Park, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Free activities such as cardio training, aerobics, karate, water arthritis, swimming and walking.

March 29 - Crib tournament in the Royal Canadian Legion, Digby, at 10 a.m. For information, call 245-4070.

March 29 - Goodwill breakfast in Freemasons’ Hall, corner King and Mount streets, from 7:30-9 a.m. Goodwill offering, everyone welcome.

March 30 - Celebration of Praise interdenominational mass choir service at 7 p.m. in Trinity Anglican Church, sponsored by Digby & Area Ministerial.

March 30 - United Church congregations of Bear River, Clementsport, Digby and Weymouth welcome all to Hillsburg United Church in Bear River at 11 a.m. Bring a non-perishment item for the food bank and help us welcome spring.

April 5 - Loyalist costume workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Oakdene Centre, Bear River, with instructor Jenny Stewart. View clothing, order patterns, and discuss material options. Contact Angela O'Neil at 245-4155 or Jenny Stewart at 467-3184.

April 5 - Firefighters’ breakfast in Bear River Fire Hall from 7-10 a.m. Proceeds for the fire hall.

April 5-6 - Pool tournament in the Royal Canadian Legion, Digby, at 11 a.m. For information, call 245-4070.

April 17 - Junior golf meeting at 7 p.m. in Digby Curling Club for parents and boys and girls 6 to 19 wanting to play golf. For information, call 245-6985.

April 19 - Spring Fling in the Royal Canadian Legion, Bear River, at 9 a.m. Crafts, baked goods, yard sale items. Seafood chowder and hot dogs at 11 a.m. Tables available, call Mary 467-3097 or Daphnie 467-0128.

March - Western Counties Regional Library accepting donations for the food bank throughout March. Library branches in Digby County will collect for food banks that serve their areas.

March - Book at Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library. Proceeds for the Adopt-A-Book campaign, a fundraiser enabling the library to put new material on its shelves.

Thursdays, March & April - Tax help in Isaiah W. Wilson Memorial Library from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Trained volunteers available to offer help. Bring T4s and other tax-related documents (health receipts, etc) to complete tax forms. First-come, first-served basis. Call 245-2163 for information.

To April 9 - Artist Marsha Lewis, an acrylic painter, is featured among artists showing new works at the Scallop Palette Gallery in Digby General Hospital.

MONDAYS - Digby Badminton Club at Digby Regional High School runs Monday nights until May 8. Cost is $35 for the season or $3 per night. Call 245-3759 for more information.

MONTHLY - Chronic Pain Support Group meets the last Monday of every month at Digby Superstore from 7-9 p.m.

THURSDAYS - 603rd Weymouth Royal Canadian Army Cadets meets in Weymouth Consolidated School from 6:30 - 9 p.m. Looking for new members aged 12-18. For information, contact Lieut. Robert Sweeney at (902) 837-7419 after 6 p.m.

SUNDAYS - Hill Grove United Baptist Church Sunday school beginning at 9:45 a.m. (preschoolers to adults) and church service at 11 a.m.

Last Tuesday of month - MS support group meets in Digby General Hospital cafeteria from 6:30–8 p.m. For information, call John Bent at 245-6707.
